The Jewel of Maryland Commandery No. 1 is made up of four separate pieces. The top piece is engraved with the name of the Sir Knight who wears it. Then followed below with the three vertical bars, then the lower piece with the word “Baltimore” engraved on it. Finally the bottom piece of the jewel is either an original or reproduction of the 1871 Triennial Medal made for the 1871 Triennial in Baltimore, MD. Maryland Commandery No. 1 had 4,100 of these medals manufactured for the Triennial, and provided to the Sir Knights participating.
The 1871 Triennial Medal is made of oxidized silver and was manufactured in Berlin, Germany.
